Maestral is a canonical work of Croatian post-war modernism, a symbol of the architecture of Brela and the Makarska Riviera, and was once the most luxurious hotel on the Adriatic.
Construction (1962 - 1965)
The Hotel is the crowning jewel of architects Ante Rožić, Julius De Luca and Matija Salaj. The interior was designed by the famous Bernardo Bernardi. In that period, the Marina annex was also built, today known as the neighbouring Bluesun Hotel Marina.
Tourism Champion (1968)
Maestral is the winner of the "Tourism Champion" award as the most beautiful and most luxurious hotel on the Adriatic.
Beach Bar Maestral (1975)
A beach bar was built on the beach in front of the Hotel, which is still open today. In those years, Maestral was the entertainment center of the Makarska Riviera, and every evening an entertainment program was held on the Hotel's terrace.
MoMA (2018)
Maestral is part of the "Toward Concrete Utopia" exhibit at the famous Museum of Contemporary Art (MoMA) in New York.
Renovation (2021 - 2022)
The Hotel has been completely renovated, respecting tradition and preserving the spirit of the "old" Maestral.
